Lions agree with top pick SuhFootball Betting Lines08/03/2010 - Allen Park, MI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Detroit Lions have reportedly agreed to terms with defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, the second overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. MLive.com is reporting that it is a five-year deal with a maximum value of $68 million, with $40 million guaranteed. The 6-foot-4, 300 pound Suh recorded 85 tackles, 12 sacks and 24 tackles for loss last season in 14 games for Nebraska. He was the Outland Trophy, Lombardi Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Chuck Bednarik Award winner while also being named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. He also finished fourth in the 2009 Heisman Trophy voting, tied for the best finish by a defensive lineman since fellow Nebraska defensive lineman Rich Glover finished third in 1972. Suh finished his Cornhuskers career with 215 tackles, 24 sacks, good for a tie for fourth place in school history, and 57 tackles for loss, second in school history behind only Grant Wistrom. He has missed six practices over the first four days of Lions' training camp.

Chicago Bears (+350) - The Bears are probably a bit of an overhyped team once again this year.No, we don't think it is plausible for QB Jay Cutler to have as bad of a season as he did last year, and we do think the additions of RB Chester Taylor and DE Julius Peppers are going to help immensely, but there's still something in the water in the Windy City that we aren't so sure about. Maybe Chicago finds its way to .500... but then again, maybe it doesn't. If Favre comes back, Cutler might be the worst quarterback in this division this year. Detroit Lions (+1500) - The Lions are probably once again going to be the whipping boys for the rest of the teams in the NFC North, but they aren't just going to roll over and die once again. There is some real talent amassing on this team offensively, as the combination of QB Matt Stafford, RB Jahvid Best, WR Calvin Johnson, and TE Brandon Pettigrew should put a bunch of points on the board if the offensive line can even remotely hold up. The questions really lie on defense, where it feels like DT Ndamukong Suh is going to be trying to stop opposing teams all by himself. This year should show some marked improvement in the Motor City.
